Laois Archery pulled out all of the stops in hosting this years IFAF National Champs. A huge amount of work and attention to detail went into setting the range for the 3D-Standard round on Saturday. Many in attendance conceded “The course-setters won on that target” when their arrows didn’t quite hit the mark.
The 20-target International Round, on Sunday, provided a great challenge. This rarely shot round further energised the general interest in ’roundies’ that’s been growing on the run-up to UKIFAC and EFAC this summer and on the build-up to UKIFAC 2020.
Base camp was run very professionally. There were many nice touches to the area – banners, refreshments (including fruit as well as treats), seating and shelters. The host of admin-ers and marshals further demonstrated the clubs’ commitment to the event.
This years National Champs proved to be the biggest championships in IFAF history with 95 and 96 competitors on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. It is also most attended shoot within IFAF outside of UKIFAC!
The new perpetual trophies commissioned for the Flatbow and Historical adult classes were much admired and very popular with those in attendance (click to view photos).
