| There was an interesting point raised about the taping of risers where there are marks that could conceivably be used as sight marks, regardless of whether they are manufacturers marks or wear and tear marks. In all unsighted categories there should be no markings above the arrow and if there are they should be taped up to 15cm above the arrow. This rule is in place for all the unsighted styles (LB-HB-BHR-TR-BBR-BBC-BHC) I’ll post a couple of pics where a mark intrinsic to the bow should be taped. Dear Archers At a recent shoot the question of taping the riser above the arrow in the unsighted categories was raised. Please be aware that there should be no markings above the arrow in the sight window in any of the unsighted categories, LB-HB-TR-BHR-BHC-BBR or BBC, this includes camo marks and lines of laminate in manufacture as well as marks made by arrows or other wear and tear on the riser. Any markings could be used as sight marks and would arguably take the bow into a sighted category. This is not a new rule, it is simply that IFAF is working hard to ensure all IFAA rules are adhered to to create a level playing field for all Archers. We understand that at previous equipment inspections this may not have been adhered both here and in other countries but the reality is that the rule was there and should have been acted upon. Going forward we feel it is best for everyone to apply all the IFAA rules equally without exception. Taped below.
